  *   21+ only, ic and ooc.  *   Alaric is, by nature, a character who invites darker and more mature themes. Discussion of boundaries and communication is extremely important to me, so please let me know if there are subjects you'd like me to avoid. I will provide the same courtesy.  *   I'm only interested in roleplaying in game and have no interest in moving scenes off the game and/or starting them elsewhere.  *   IC isn't OOC. What this character says, does or thinks is not reflective of the writer.  *   I'm not interested in roleplay with egregiously lore-breaking or fetish characters. Lore-bending is fun, just make it believable.  *   I have mare alternatives if needed, but only ask for them if we're roleplaying.

  1. BURNS AND INK Alaric is almost always covering his hands in some way, typically with gloves or bandages. Those who have seen him 'gloves off' so to speak might sympathize with his decision to keep them on; ink swallows the length of his fingers, never seeming to be able to be washed away and his skin is coarse with burn scars that stretch even into his sleeves. The scars are awful enough to beg the question: can he even feel anything?

  2. ARTIST'S ANGUISH Alaric seems to have a poor ability to distinguish colors from one another, especially those that are far more vibrant. Such is especially apparent in his artworks, often done in grayscale over anything colorful, and when he does use color, the composition muddies into itself, showing either a lack of skill or a tacky art style at best. It's up for debate if he can see color, at all.

  1. MEEK To those able to perceive it, Alaric's aether proves something worrisome: it's rather frail and barely perceptible. It's a point of contingency that often inspires worry in others, and with how sickly he looks, it's well-warranted; eye bags begging for the mercy of slumber from one too many restless nights, a languid means of moving, a lithe posture that borders on the edge of one too many missed meals. Workaholic, or just a sickly man?

  2. CORRUPTED What is present of the man's aether is undoubtedly off. A spilled inkwell clouding a white canvas, diluting the surrounding color in shadow. The man gives no reason to be suspicious of him, and if anything, it's quite clear that the corruption is something almost accidental. Natural. A gradual change due to prolonged exposure. Perhaps it has something to do why all of his paintings manifest into beasts.

NO DISCUSSION NEEDED.

KNOWN ARTIST He's an artist often known to sell his artworks throughout Eorzea; many might recognize his gothic, borderline unsettling abstract styles and resonate with the woeful atmospheres they create. You've probably seen him somewhere in Ishgard somewhere painting/sketching things or people, even.ODD AETHER His aether is weak - barely perceptible, even. He looks rather sick and exhausted, too. Individuals who are compassionate or perhaps a little too nosy have more than enough reason to make sure he's doing okay. Look a little closer, and some might find hints of corruption, as well.ARTIST'S ATHENAEUM He owns and runs a library and gallery known as the "Artist's Athenaeum" in Ishgard. It offers a wide variety of differing tomes and artifacts, almost seeming more like a museum than anything else with the impressive selection he's built. He displays his paintings and sculptures here as well. Though some swear this establishment is not all that it seems. . .MUSES He's constantly on the lookout for new muses - pretty places, interesting people, unorthodox concepts. . . If you have something interesting that inspires him, he'll make it worth your while. He's been known to paint or sketch people out of the blue on whim, too.ARTIFACT INTEREST If you have a rare tome or artifact, chances are Alaric will want it for his collection and/or library. He's willing to seek others out if he catches wind of something he wants, and similarly, others may find him for artifacts that he has.

SHARLAYAN STOMPING GROUND He can be recognized by those from Sharlayan as someone who was born and raised there - and held quite the reputation for himself. He had such a promising life ahead of himself with his proficiency in the arts, magic and historical study - but his bitterness for Sharlayan itself seemed to nosedive his career before he could ever make a name for himself. What happened?OCCULTIC INTEREST He's interested in all things strange and unorthodox - esoteric arcane, odd artifacts, foreboding locales, monsters, outlawed magic, voidsent. . . if it's forbidden, he wants to study it even more. If your character specializes in anything out of the ordinary, knows anything strange or is something strange, chances are he'll be interested in interaction.RAMPANT ARTISTRY Alaric's paintings have been known to 'come to life' - once before, they were vibrant creatures, beauty straight out of the imagination. . . But now? Wretched beasts come from enchanted inks, known to terrorize and destroy if not swiftly dealt with. In the catacombs of the Artist's Athenaeum, he's rumored to seal them away in tomes and even display some on enchanted canvases, allowing others to take them home for the right price - he can even create a monster for you by commission.MARBLE PUPPETS His sculptures serve a greater purpose than just artistic expression; alongside his monstrous paintings, his sculptures and mannequins are rumored to move with wills of their own. What they are is uncertain: some claim they're mammets, others claim there is more to them. . . But if one thing is for certain, it is that he is reliable to seek out if you are in need of something similar. . . or maybe you're just curious?OCCULTIC BOUNTIES Alaric dabbles in things that others might not necessarily agree with or like - and it can often get him in trouble. He operates himself quietly enough, but not everything is fool-proof; bounties, headhunters, people who hate the void and those who commune with it - whether it's a hit on his head, someone trying to bring him in for coin or otherwise, this can be an interesting way to kick things off.
